Korean Folk Village was created to introduce the national culture to both domestic and foreign tourists by bringing together the customs of Korean culture that have been handed down over time. Since its establishment in 1974, it has been loved as a place visitors can have a lively cultural experience and a beautiful traditional tourist destination with the best traditional culture themes in beautiful nature.
Joseon Dynasty Village in Korean Folk Village consists of REAL traditional houses. It has established villages by moving or restoring ordinary people's houses and noble residences in each province. Visitors can see various lifestyles of Joseon Dynasty, from Kwana, a former local administrative agency, to Seowon and Seodang, educational institutions. Also, visitors can share the values of traditional cultural heritages that are forgotten, experience-based exhibitions, handicrafts, and seasonal customs there.
Traditional Folk Museum displays lively rituals of four generations who lived in the land of Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, during the late Joseon Dynasty. It also use miniatures to show traditional customs, ceremonial rituals, and folk games.
Korean Folk Village World Folk Museum opened on September 22, 2001 and consists of nine permanent exhibition spaces. It has more than 3,000 cultural assets collected from the six major continents. The exhibitions make it easy to meet the life, living skills and culture and arts of each country.
Besides, there are a few more exciting places you can enjoy, such as a marketplace and an amusement park. The marketplace is the street of Joseon Dynasty where you can try the taste of old times. It is a place of Korean Folk Village where you can feel the lyricism of Korea by gathering traditional workshop street where you can see various features such as organic workshop, fan workshop, and malt workshop. In the market place, you can enjoy 20 kinds of local foods delivered from each region, and seasonal foods.
In an amusement park, you can enjoy Ghost Pictures (a ghost theme exhibition and attraction created based on folk beliefs), Hometown of Legends (Korea's first high technology dark ride attraction), Bumper Car, Viking (a huge pirate ship flying through the sky), Family Costa (a roller coaster rushing through the forest), Carousel (family park cycling trip by small train), Boat Ride (a log ship taking a trip along the water), Drop and Twist (a dizzying twist in a high altitude drop), Bounce Spin (exciting flight that divides the wind up and down according to the rhythm), Crazy swing (the dizzying rotation that continues 360 degrees up and down and left and right), etc.
Additional attractions may be suspended without prior notice due to bad weather (heavy rain, strong winds, temperature drops, etc.), safety checks, and breakdowns. Admission may close early if there are many customers waiting for boarding. Depending on the attraction, there may be age restrictions.
